Research results from the Dr. Gong Clinic collaboration on Miyako Island, Okinawa, Japan, have been published in PLOS ONE!
The study investigated the actual condition of anterior segment diseases among homebound patients living on the island of Miyako during home visits. It was found that the incidence of anterior segment diseases was high among local home care patients. The portable slit lamp device made it possible to examine patients at home, indicating the possibility of providing high quality care in areas where conventional medical institutions are unable to provide care.
