OUI Inc. donates 1,068 eyeglass frames to Nepal in collaboration with Megane Ichiba
OUI Inc. collaborates with Megane Ichiba(Location: Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture; CEO: Masahiro Tomizawa; hereinafter “Megane Ichiba”),jointly donated 1,068 eyeglass frames to the BM Foundation, which is based in Nepal.
OUI Inc. has developed the Smart Eye Camera (SEC), an attachment-type medical device that can be attached to an iPhone to enable eye examinations and support eye care in medically underserved areas such as Vietnam, Nepal, Bhutan, Brazil, India, East Timor, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, and Mozambique. SEC supports eye care services in underpopulated areas.
Megane Ichiba conducts CSR activities as “eye-related social contribution activities” by utilizing commercial materials such as sunglasses, eyeglass frames, and eyeglass lenses that have become surplus stock due to design changes and store consolidation. Ltd. and Megane market started in 2021, and Megane market supported the activities of OUI Co., Ltd. which is engaged in activities to provide medical support and reduce blindness in areas where adequate medical care is not available, and donated sunglasses and glasses to be worn to protect eyes from light and dust after treatment for cataracts in remote areas for eye care. The company donates sunglasses and glasses. This is the fourth donation following the donation of eyeglass frames and lenses to Malawi in Africa three years ago, the joint donation of sunglasses to Kenya the year before last, and the donation of sunglasses and eyeglass frames to Bali, Indonesia, last year.
