OUI Inc. has got funded from AMED to develop Auto-Diagnostic AI by SEC
OUI Inc. is pleased to announce that our proposal has been selected by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) , Japanese governmental agency in charge of medical research and development, for their “Medical Device Development Promotion Research Project — Physician-Initiated Clinical Trials and Clinical Research for Practical Application of Innovative Medical Devices”.
This research project aims to provide safer medical technology to the public at an early stage, and to link the results of basic research in Japan to the approval of medical devices in accordance with the “Pharmaceutical Affairs Agency Law ”in Japan. This program promotes high quality clinical research and investigator-initiated clinical trials that can be adequately guaranteed.
With the support of AMED, we will collect big data on the anterior segment of the eye using Smart Eye Camera (SEC), a smartphone attachment medical device developed by OUI Inc. , and apply machine learning to the collected data to develop diagnostic artificial intelligence (AI) for the diseases of anterior segment of eye and commercialize it as a medical device.
We will continue to work with a various domestic/international partners to promote SEC both domestically and internationally, with the goal of overcoming 50% of world blindness by 2025 !
