Research paper has been published in the journal “Translational Vision Science & Technology”
OUI Inc.is pleased to announce that a research paper on the functionality of Smart Eye Camera (SEC) has been published in the peer-reviewed journal “Translational Vision Science & Technology”.
In this clinical study, 53 Japanese eyes (106 eyes) diagnosed with dry eye were examined using a conventional medical device (conventional slit-lamp microscope) and the SEC to evaluate clinical findings related to dry eye.
This is the first paper in the world to evaluate the diagnostic performance of dry eye in a similar study using a smartphone, and the results of this study suggest that the SEC, a portable medical device, can contribute to ophthalmic care in areas where conventional fixed slit-lamp microscopes are not available (developing countries, remote areas such as isolated islands, and during disasters). In addition, the SEC is a smartphone attachment that enables remote medical treatment even in remote areas.
OUI Inc. will continue further research and aim to reduce blindness in the world by 50% by 2025 by spreading the SEC both domestically and internationally.
